Problems Perl.....ME 23/24

I am having some problems with the new versions of MQ that have a Perl folder 23 and 24. So here is what I did I was running 24 and for some reason I could log in fine to EQ but MQ would be running in backround but would never say that it started in EQ (like is usually does). So I restarted computer tried again. Tried 5 times in total (using new offsets 2). I then went back to 23 and was having same problem (using new offsets). I tried with Clientoveride on and off. Then I went back to MQ version 16 and it worked fine. MQ would run and I could do /who but it was such an old version that I could not get macros to run? I have heard other people have had this problem.

I am running Windows ME.

ANy ones else have this problem or solution?

You are having problems for this reason:

The newest releases of MQ include my addon for the Perl scripting language (which is a very powerful and complicated scripting language that will let you do MANY things that the built-in MacroQuest scripting won't let you do). However, to do this, a DLL which includes the Perl scripting "engine" must be available on your system. By default, the MacroQuest install includes this DLL (Perl56.DLL).

The problem is, this is the Windows NT/2000/XP version of the DLL and will NOT work properly on 9x. Unfortunately, I don't really believe that Win9x is a fabulous platform for doing this kind of stuff and I have no plans to include the 9x version of Perl56.DLL in my updates. If Plaz decides to put the DLL in the drop he publishes, that's his business...

The workaround is, as stated, to download the Win 9x (also supports WinME I believe) version of ActiveState's Perl. You actually only really need the one file: Perl56.DLL. If someone wants to be proactive and publish that DLL on an FTP or web site (which may or may not violate ActiveState's license agreement), I'm sure the rest of the 9x community would love you.

But in the interim, I have a suggestion you probably won't like: if your hardware will support it, upgrade to XP. You'll be so much happier -- trust me :)

I've installed the new perl package and gotten it to detect, however it tells me that I have an invalid client version. What is our current client version? PM with details on how to find this if you would.

The answer to this is related to the recent daylight saving time change.

Use search.

See it as kind of a challenge. If you can't figure it out on yer own, perhaps you shouldn't be using this program.

Of course, Im being a complete jackass on this, as without someone grabbing and posting the offsets, I would be up a certain creek without a certain paddle.

Well the problem actually was that I was using the modified 2:07:xx daylight savings time as per the instructions on the other page, however on the 98 machine it doesn't need that, it needs 3:07:xx, for some reason. Maybe my 98 machine forgot what day it was or something, I then installedi t on my XP machine and put in 2:07:xx and it worked fine.

Anyway, thanks for telling me to go figure it out on my own, then at least I can learn a little more about the software.
