First off do NOT use wordpad to save macros. it puts a bunch of stupid MS junk in the file and is not a plain text. use NotePad or TextPad or some such normal text editer.
If this dont fix your problem then you are just broken

I don’t quite understand the disconnect here. When you unpack the MQ2 distribution, there is a "release" directory with a "macro" subdirectory with lots of ready-to-run macros in it.
So... if you wanted to add a macro, where do you suppose it would go?
Unless you changed the default macro directory in the INI, this is automatic. So what the hell is this thread for exactly?

This is my problem, none of the ready to run macros work either. You know im probably just an idiot, but when I try and get this program to work it just dosent work the way everyone elses does from my understanding. I have can see the mobs up in any given zone and I can track them down and kill them and thats cool, but I would like to do some tradeskill farming too! I cannot make the program work that way. I copied the acron mac and I stuffed that in there. I copied and pasted into an already made mac that I coppied and it still didnt work! : ( so I am going to delete the folder incase something was corrupted and unzip it again and try this. Apparently everyone is trying to give solutions and none are working. something must be wrong!
Anyone live in ventura CA? heh last resort!

There's your problem. As other's have pointed out already, don't use word, use notepad.

some of the 'ready to run' macros in the /macro directory don't actually work, unfortunately. They're just left in there from a long ass time ago, since nobody took the time to clean them out.
Try running showbonuses.mac (or something close to that). See if that one works for you.. I'm pretty sure that's updated.

this was intended to be a smart ass remark.. but i cant think of anything smart assed to say so ill just be helpful
you were smart about deleting and recompling.... fixxed my problems once heres a checklist for you might help might not but at least you have the input from a guy who breaks his shit all the time, and sometimes whos crazy wife breaks shit too....
1- make sure you compiled latest zip
2- make sure there is only one folder mq is in (release folder)
3- make sure INSIDE release folder there is another folder named macros
4- inside the macro folder do the following - winxp is assumed
- a- click "Tools"
- b- open "Folder Options"
- c- goto "View" tab
- d- UNcheck "Hide extensions for known file types"
- e- this will let you change the extension of a file easily using "Rename"
- f- click apply and exit out of the menu
5- inside macro folder right click blank area, selecet new text document
6- name this file macroname.mac
7- double click to open... if it pops up choose program, use notepad
8- clear any text inside the file if any appears
9- copy the code from macro depot
10-paste it inside the macro document
11-click the X in the upper right
12-it will pop a prompt... just click yes
should be good to go at this point...
best of luck

well Thank you Space-boy. I have been having some good luck with using new macro's that I am copying and pasting. You helped alot. now that I am using this I can see it is very helpful.. You see I am have a 250 halfling tailor and this works well for getting the acorns. thats one of the main reasons that I was looking for it. I am checking for more of the macros for tradeskills...
You guys are great. Thank you to everyone that helped with this. I think that now I can figure out the rest on my own, but atfirst I could figure out how to get the macro to even work!
Thanks again
