This question comes as I have finished my first macro. I want to share it but not exactly sure how this type of macro would be viewed. Basically I wonder if there are any kinds of macros considered "bad" or "frowned upon" by the developers and other macro users?
Also when a macro that is very location specific comes out do the EQ people (whomever fights the use of macros) come here to see what they are so they can better act upon it?

We would be silly to think they don't. Most macros aren't bad perse, but some usage of commands could be.
When in doubt, PM someone and ask. Like me, or a mod, or someone who contributes a lot.

look around the boards, you'll quickly see what "shouldn't" be posted. AFK macros are a no no. Any macros that involve using a non stock mq plugin (no hacks) should not be posted here either.

It's possible. You also have the possibility of losing your nice macroing spot to another macroer. I'd recommend not posting location specific macros.
As for what is bad: AFK macros = not allowed. Don't post them... try to post them, and risk getting flamed to hell and back.

Actually, there's several AFK macros posted. It's not recommended to use them, and it's forbidden to ask for them or ask for help with them outside of the posted thread.
Say it with me now... "AFK MACROING IS BAD."
Also, obvious cheats. Don't ask how to map in non-mappable zones, don't ask how to get unlimited levitate or fly mode or any stupid crap like that.
Asking for things like this will get you slapped. Repeatedly. And probably stabbed a few times too. In the face.

Using a forager macro can be seen as "AFK-macroing", no?
But it's so damn boring to forage specific items that I don't really see that as a bad thing.
Perhaps you should just take a look at yourself and ask: How would this morally be viewed?
If you use hacks or direct cheats, I see it as a no-no.
Making a macro that can stalk/harass other players is a BIG no-no.
The above is of course my personal oppinion :)

technically it is an afk macro. However, auto-foraging is allowed.
People ask for afk macros like - "Can someone make a macro that checks zone for ancient cyclops, if hes up, it goes and kills him, then loots ring and camps" etc. Those are a no no.

The only real thing that is frowned apon is STUPIDITY. Stupid people make this community look bad. Plenty of people use AFK macro's but are smart about it. Then again, plenty of people use AFK macro's and should be shot and/or given the darwin award.
Which category are you going to fall into?
