Incorrect Client Version

Post by DaGrumpf » Sun Aug 22, 2004 2:10 pm

Hello,

I just downloaded the latest zip (08/20) and compiled it (vc++6) properly. Though, when i launch MQ and then EQ, i get the Incorrect Client Version message.

I then tried to define clientoverride to 1 in the eqgame.h file and compile it all again, only to make eqgame.exe crash at launching.

As im playing on the french server, is there anything special to do to make it work ?

Thanks for your answers.

lol

Ok, Sparky, here's the deal.
Straight out of the .zip, it's only going to work on US servers. For the Ubi servers, you're going to have to figure out how far behind the US servers you are (usually 1 or 2 patches) and have the old zips for the old structs and offsets.
You take the offsets and structs from the old, combine it with the updated .zip, throw in that client override that you've found, and it should work. If not, you'll have to find someone who's done it on a Ubi server. I'm just a stupid 'murican.

Hello.

Ok i think i get the picture. But i wonder what exactly are the files holding the structs and offests besides eqgame.h (I'm starting to miss the good'ole eqgame.ini i guess). I guess i'll make rollback EQData.h and eqgame.h as both have very suspicious names.

I'll try that in a while.

It doesn't work.

I picked up the 06/19 version, replaced one time eqgame.h and the other time the whole MQ2Main's *.h files. Then, as one could guess, the eqmain.dll just won't compile.

If anyone that has succesfully make it work on an european server read this post....

Thanks.

Try simply compiling and trying each version released after a patch until you get a working version, and then get the latest version for that patch. Just moving the eqgame.h and eqdata.h files won't help matters much as there have been changes to the rest of the codebase in minor things like bugfixes, added features, and different offsets being checked which would each have to be tracked down and accounted for.

Well from what I remember there weren't many changes between 08/19 and 08/20 in terms of offsets, except the long missing AA stuff. EQgame.exe changed in the patch of the 08/13, then 08/14 or something like that, both required offset updates. Try the one before, 07/27 iirc. Damn, sucks to be old and senile, so I might be remembering these dates way off, somebody correct me if I'm totally wrong.
