OK, I haven't played EQ in a while, but lately decided to try it again. Downloaded and compiled latest MQ2 (which went fine), also downloaded and installed the modded SoesMQ UI.

MQ2 runs fine, ithe MQ2chatwnd shows up at character select, and I have the modified "waiting to enter world" screen (the one with the MQ2: Think of it as evolution in action loading text). However...

Once I'm in the game I have no access to MQ2, the NPC names are colored right (bankers are that horrible bright purple/pink color, etc.) No MQ2chatwindow, MQ commands vanish into a black hole, and all the custom labels in the UI show up as "unknown label". I've tried several UIs, including the default, and no acceess to MQ commands.

This is a pretty much out of the box MQ install, I went back through all the readmes and help files in case I'd forgotten something stupid in the months since I last messed with this. But nothing seems to help. Anyone have any ideas what stupid thing I've done/forgotten to do?

I remember seeing something similar here recently. If you can, /unload, but you shouldn't need to, and close MQ2, then restart it. You should have your window and everything. If you use anything that requires UI interaction, you'll need to either reload your UI, or camp the character and reenter the world.

Ok, fired up MQ2, started EQ, all looks normal until I enter the game. Then I have character name highlighting, and that appears to be the only MQ functionality working, no chat window, no commands working, etc.

/unloaded and restarted MQ, camped out and I have the MQ chat window at character select again, enter world again and again, no MQ functionality (UI labels still showing "unknown label"), etc.

Really starting to be annoying, can't stand playing EQ without MQ any longer, anyone have any other suggestions?

Try the default UI and go from there.

I have tiried the default UI, as well as the UI I was using before I downloaded the SoesMQ UI. They all react exactly the same.

Delete your MQ2 directory... blow it away. Download the latest zip, run auth and rebuild. It has to work or there is something about your system or os that is wack.

Well, nuking my MQ2 install and completely reinstalling/recompiling fixed it, thanks for your help all (especially eqjoe).

After a lot of searching I find this. I'm having same issue(s) as the original poster.

Guess it's time to nuke and reload.

Yep, that fixed it. Must have missed something in the 2nd to last step of the compile.
