Just curious, but are requests made by those who donate a higher priority than others? Or is it just a 'when it's possible' kind of priority system, where requests that are easiest are worked on first?

I would imagine it's "Whatever the hell Plazmic wants to do" is done first. Which is how it should be :)
Sorry man, no offense, but this is a lame question/thread for a project that is open source and totally free. The source is freely downloadable -- hire a programmer if you like and get all the features you want.

Yup, the project is totally directed by my whims for the day...
Posting ideas is a good way to have a feature added, but posting a idea 10 times isn't...

Another good way is to be over his shoulder and be persuasive and get him to work on something. Not an easy thing to do if you can't demonstrate the need well.

Im sure Plaz is tired of MQ in some way... it has ballooned massively in the last few months.. perhaps some more devs to help him out with patches you all?

This would happen if it were easier to patch MQ, I think. Perhaps a plugin-type framework should be looked into.

Actually, AMadMonk is working now to move MQ to a more modular approach, in preperation for his Perl scripting module.

Hey there! :)
Any reason why he's using Perl instead of other scripting languages? I tried to learn Perl once, and was appauled at its apparent disorganization... But then, that's just me... :)
Just checking. :)

Python scripter, eh? Don't worry, the callback API et al will be well documented, so if you really want a different interpreter, you can do the work and get it. :) From AMadMonk:
AMadMonk wrote:Plaz: it's gonna take some time. I'm working on hot-swappable scripting. I'm piecing together a callback structure right now that will allow modules to register with MQ and get callbacks when "interesting" events occur. An interesting event will include a timer expiration. Once I have this framework in place, I'm going to take your existing scripting work and put it into the framework as a callback DLL.
THEN, I'll take what I've worked on for Perl and make it yet another callback DLL.
And EQAddict, this means that once the framework is in place, if you want to take the time, you can make a Python plugin and script to your heart's content. I don't LIKE Python tho so

you get to do it yourself (is Python embeddable? if so, it shouldn't be too hard. I had someone trying VERY hard to convince me to do it in Ruby -- hah)
A pretty interesting thread, well worth a look.
