/notify problem

Am I the only one having the problem where /notify does nothing? commands such as:

/notify COMBW_CombineArea CombineButton leftmouseup

and

/ctrl /itemnotify ${FindItem[=Ration].InvSlot} leftmouseup

do nothing for me, anyone know why? something I could be doing wrong?

bah, all these problems cause i didnt have damn service pack 6 for VC++, lame, problem fixed now
