I guess I don't understand how a tool like MQ could ever cause Sony to lose money. If anything it causes them to make money because if tomorrow MQ went away forever, the day after tomorrow would be the day I cancel my EQ accounts. I'm sure many others feel the same way.dweomer wrote: If ever this metric leads Sony to believe it is losing money it will act.
I tend to agree, but I am not an SOE suit. The implication of my phrasing that you quoted is that currently Sony shows little to no outward signs of perceiving MQ to be a threat to it's bottom line. But if Sony ever does perceive MQ to be a threat it will move on multiple fronts to eliminate it.chickenisgoot wrote:I guess I don't understand how a tool like MQ could ever cause Sony to lose money. Exactly. This is why my wife and I both use MQ: it enhances our playtime experiences by doing things (in the client) that we feel any good MMORPG of EverQuest's calibre should do. Without MQ we don't enjoy our time on Norrath, on Luclin, or in the Planes nearly as much.chickenisgoot wrote:Hell right now with EQW broken I don't want to play. Tools like EQW and MQ that provide a service that should be built into the tool make people want to play, they don't cost Sony any money. They keep the 12.95/month (times 4 accounts for me) rolling in.
