$target(hp,xxx) bug

Post by Valerian » Sun Sep 01, 2002 4:01 pm

Seems $target(hp,xxx) always returns a percentage, hp,cur returns hp,pct, and hp,max returns 100

already posted to bug tracker, just wanted to let some coders that don't check that every day know it's there *grins*

Salutations,
that is not a bug.

In the early days of EQ the client was sent the number of hps and the max hps that the target had. but then there was showeq. Players where able to view all the stats about the mob and verant was angery. So verant made the target hp/s pct used in the hp bar serverside, and then showeq and mq only showed percentages.

So if you want yourself, use $char but on targets use that...

good point l124rd, forgot about that.

ahh, I see, that should probably be changed in the documentation to reflect that... it's a bit misleading now, even though it's still working the way it used to.

Thanks for the explanation L124RD

Salutations,
Actually, You can still see other pc's hp's (last time i checked)... So that is why (i think) there is other things besides just $target(hp,pct)

experience with seq has shown that after you do dmg to a PC or after you see what dmg has been done to it, it extrapolates the HP percentage change to the numeric change... this is just a theory, as it wouldnt acct for DoT dmg, falling dmg, or a lot of other things...

any of the seq devs care to comment why ive seen PC's hp but only some of the time?
