Casino Experiences ...

Post by a_troll_01 » Thu Dec 18, 2003 6:57 pm

I just wanted to get some people's thoughts on this. I went in there today and blew about 15,000pp and all I got was vendor crap valued to about 800pp (Illusion potions, gems, etc). Now, I spent all this money so I could get a good mathematical perception of the risk/reward, and it looks like your odds of making a profit are roughly 1 in 17. Anyone else have this same experience? I don't care for gambling much, especially player-run casinos, but that to me seems a little bit rediculous. Of course, as mentioned recently in the "SoE's Crackdown Methods" thread, it's probably just a way to get all the Plat out of circulation and rebalance the economy.

Apparently zone was jsut taken down for a minor fix .. no one was winning tickets. Now they are so might have better experiences if you tried again with fix.

yea i tried a few thousand plat, nothing won. (mabye 150 plat of vendor trash) Then SH went down for half hour and i petitioned to get my lost money back based on the fact that something must be wrong with the game if their taking the zone down. I was informed of the no refund policy

That's just ... wrong. I mean, really. If a merchant was bugged and not giving an item to you that you paid money for, they'd give you a refund. It's happened to me before. That just makes no sesne that they'd consider the Casino any different. Now, on the other hand, if everyone that wasn't making a profit from the casino had something to say about it, sure, that's a good reason for the policy. I agree with the policy in that aspect. But if the NPC's are bugged and they know it, WTF?

i thought it was a great idea, a good way to take all the extra plat floating around and get people to destroy it =) LOL only way i woulda thought of to get people to willingly destroy plat =) heh... my guess on them taking it out is gambing is outlawed in a lot of areas where people play eq, and also there is the younger audience playing... in some places gambling in a game automatically makes the game get a MA rating

really doubt it was anything to do with MA rating or gambling laws. its around chrismas and they didnt really want to have to worry about crashing the zone ever 2 hours from 300 people trying to get an item that doesnt exist. imo to much hastle for its worth right now after the new year i expect it will be back like they said after they find a way to stop it from crashing the zone.

It's most logical to me that they just know a lot of people were having a lot of problems and doubts, and the "casinos" left an initially bad taste in their mouth. They'll probably try to work out all the issues player had and reinstate the casinos a bit later ... I'd LOVE to see the /petition queue from yesterday.

3 guys in my guild hit these heavy from the moment they went in, until the zone reset which removed them. After the first zone reset where they were replaced, they all 3 blew upwards of 100kpp, one of them won the elder holgresh beads, another won a mana robe, and the other didn't link his but said he won a deluxe sewing kit. I being a shaman by trade, was offering to take care of potions for people, and got enough I have a few spare 10shots of just about all of the various illusions. Several people won a clicky illusion tree item that is all/all. I blew 2kp to earn a bunch of crap stat food, a pristine emerald, and a gnomish firewerk (which pissed off alot of people when I set it off in the middle of the casino crowd =) YMMV
