framerate/lag issues after zoning

Post by Amadeus » Wed Nov 26, 2003 1:25 pm

I am getting this same thing happening right after I zone where the framerate is really jerky and slow for about 1.5 minutes, then it clears up as if it never occured. Happened on three consecutive zonings today.

The best way to describe it is as though you were suddenly in the middle of the bazaar ...that kind of framerate crap. :)

Hmm unfortunately that kind of thing is really difficult to find if it's a problem in MQ2. In fact, it might not even be MQ2 at all. Try with MQ2 without. Try with plugins, and without.. etc.. only way to narrow it down :(

i was getting that last night. it started happening after i'd been running mq2 in eq for a few hours.. unloaded mq2 and it went away..

edit. after i'd zone i'd drop to about 5fps according to the fps plugin, then it would clear up after 30 seconds - a minute, and i'd have normal fps.

I too have been experiencing some really strange FPS related issues. I notice that when I initially start to play it always seems to work right, but the longer I play...

Switching into/out of the EQ window causes "lag" where the display won't update for a LONG time (like a minute?). I've also seen the FPS display crazy things like 999/20. Normally I run 2 EQ's on the same machine, and it's always worked just fine (With MQ1), sometimes I'd even load a 3rd with no problems.

I've determined that the problem has to be in the MQ2 FPS portion because if I type /maxfps FG 0, the lag instantly stops and the system is responsive again. Typing /maxfps fg 20 (or 10 or 5) and the system just FREEZES to the point it's unusable. I've tried every setting for maxfps, and the only one that seems to cause it to unfreeze is 0. Every other setting from 1 to 150 causes the problem.

Whether it is related to macros actually running or not I'm not sure, as I often have macros running in 1 or more of the EQ's, but the problem persists even with the macros are /end'ed.

FPS will sometimes display 999/whatever, yes.

Also, it sounds like you're using a very old MQ2. Update it and then use a different thread for reporting your problem
