Help W/MQ2

So I downloaded the MQ2 Source, compiled on one of my computers running Visual Studio Enterprise 6.0, and everything worked fine. MQ2 runs fine on that computer. I have 3 other computers on my LAN and all of them host eq accounts (my own) and when I transferred the files to my laptop, Mq2 runs, but nothing actually happens when I enter world. No "macroquest2 is active" no commands work and no FPS counter, BUT its still running in the lower right corner when I window out. MQ1 worked fine on this laptop. Do I need to load VS6.0 on this computer as well or is it something silly? Please let me know if you have any ideas.
