i've had this CTD problem... but it stopped. Maybe because I just camp all the way out and restart eq. But I also disabled all 3d targeting rings...
It doesn't like to save that setting though, especially if you run multiple characters per computer.

I have 4 machines. One of them uses the Targetting and it gets random crashes to desktop in EQGAME.EXE
Just my 2cp... but I stopped using Targetting

Oh yes, eqgame crashes not MQ, but I figured that this was due to an MQ exception. So your saying this is an EQ bug? DAMN YOU SONY. BTW, it crashes when I try to open the trade, using /click left target with an item in my hand.

I get CTD on my non MQ toons just as explained by Prag. No MQ running on that machine. Actually, since the patch CTD's seem like a common occurence. Ive had MQ issues on other machines, but this looks as thoough its from SOE
my 2 cp

My humblest apologies to Lax, it seems the fools at SOE are to blame for this one :) Thanks for all the help! Now, I need a way to disabled targeting by default on all chars, any ideas?

You can disable the targetting ring in the Options <ALT-O>.
There is a known bug where EQ only looks in your active UI folder for the targeting ring files. This has mainly manifest as custom UIs not getting the targetting ring consistently.
If someone who is crashing w/ it could check and make sure the files are in their custom UI folder (if they use one) and copy them in (if they are missing) ... then see if you randomly crash.

Nah when you use a custom UI you dont get the target ring at all, and so the directx crash isnt present. The problem is they don't deallocate it correctly when you DO have the target ring

Actually you do get the target ring if you put the files in the custom UI folder..
Edit: err well it *was* working..

Ok, i seem to have nailed the cause of the crash, at least macroscopically. When i have /filter mqchat ON i will NOT crash while logging to a different char.
When i turn /filter mqchat OFF i WILL crash every single time.
Hope this helps, I'm not even sure where in the code to look for what could be causing this.

Well there's several different crashes, Marcalo... and I think yours has nothing to do with this one

Are you using the absolute latest IRC-latest.zip? Also, post debugging info / debug spew, etc.
