Bug in Chat Window?

Post by Zxeses » Thu Nov 06, 2003 8:41 pm

I cant close this window for one, I dont want it there either. I have enough windows as it is, I dont want to see the output at all, but this damn window wont even stay in the same place I lasted camped with it at.

Anyways, on to the bug: I camped, then logged in again. The window Ate my tell window.

I did the same, logged in, logged out. It then ate my Say/Other Events window.

Same again, this time it crashed. (this could have been for another reason)

This seems to be canibilizing my current windows!

/filter mqchat off

You can't close it because it would crash MQ to close it that way.

I'll have to look into the cannibalizing thing, this has to be a new problem since the patch.

About eating your other windows. MQ creates a chat window the same as if you used the "New Chat Window" button in EQ, and uses that window. So if you expect to be using New Chat Window to recreate your say window and have it remember your filters, maybe I could see this happening... other than that I don't know enough about your situation to determine the actual problem.

I had the exact opposite happend to me, instead of eating windows it was creating lots of windows. I was normal fighting, MQ messages going to a single window. Then all of a sudden I lost keyboard functionality, not really sure how though. I couldn't hit any of my hotkeys, move forward, open inventory etc. I could use my mouse though, so I sat and camped out.

When I came back, every MQ message created a NEW chat window. In other words I did a /who, it created a new window with output. I do a /whotarget, it created yet another new window with just that output, and so on.

I closed all the windows and it seemed to reset itself and started working correctly again. I stopped worrying about it after that. It was very strange indeed.

I had 2 eqw sessions running at the time, both running macros. Maybe it got confused somehow? The other eqw session did not exhibit this behaviour.

Please explain the eating windows more clearly. Is it taking your window thats open and being used for tells, and changing it to MQ window?

I had a window setup for tells and guild chat. When I loged in that window was gone. MQ poped open its own window after that but it wasn't in the same location as my tell/guild window. My battle spam window on the other hand was fine.

What AlphaBeta said is nearly exactly the same for me.

The tell window was gone, and the normal EQ filter had redirected tells to another window

There was a new MQ chat window, but not where the tell window was.

I then camped and re-entered, only to discover another window gone.

Please grab latest zip. If the problem continues we can all shoot ourselves. It's actually impossible for it to happen now, so hopefully your windows dont get eaten.
