Would this apply to stuff from macro quest... like baking quickly and shit, or just people that cheated to equip crap they can't?

It would seem so. MQ usage will hopefully be unaffected by this 'crackdown.' But we all know that ppl who use such 'enhancement' programs might... might also be engaged in unrelated activity that could.. could be in line with what they are warning about.

Their 'creative solution' is No XP death.

I was hoping for something along the lines of porting them to a special version of CSHome, complete with an invincible large rat that runs at 2x max selo's speed and does 100 damage per tick... or something. Maybe just a zone full of lava. =D

the gist i got from reading what was on castersealm was that they are cracking down on anyone exploiting bugs serverside, using a macro wouldn't be considered a bug would it ? it's client side only and only the remote control macro's would have server commands running though it (ie cleric.mac and pet.mac).

i didnt like this guys tone one bit - and it does annoy me slightly - only slightly.

EQ is a game - it isnt real life & I think sometimes things get taken way too seriously...if people take advantage of 'exploits' (where you see exploits, read bad coding...) then i dont think thats the fault of the person who does that. the fault is with verant for not properly coding. up until the point where they fix the 'exploit', the fault is entirely with verant - not the player.

Their approach for no exp loss death is fine with me - I think that is a sensible approach to deal with this specific problem that they have created themselves (and not the players!)

I think they are doing it this way because there are probably a lot of people equipping kit they shouldnt be able to do. but at end of the day, if they dont code properly and items can be used for additional classes, then thats not really the players fault is it...

By the way, does anybody know what they are actually talking about here? I didnt know such a bug existed.

i never really understand how they decide whats an exploit. for example, how do we as players know if when you combine certain smithying items & you make a slight profit when selling back to a vendor - is that an exploit??? how do we know that verant didnt make it that way?

You loot an item and click on Auto Invent and it drops into a slot on your character. The item is not supposed to be equipped by your class, but verant have f*cked up the code. is this an exploit - how can they justify punishing you for their own f*ck up?

Should Giants in FM drop treecleavers (or whatever it is) that are worth 55pp when sold to vendors? is that correct?

Is a player who loots an uber item and then sells it at the bazaar for 100K exploiting the game?

Casting wolf form and then levitate and running up a tree - is that an exploit?

Quad kiting - is that an exploit?

high level characters killing much lower lvl chars for PP or loot - is than an exploit?

Hermit in SK - he spawns every 3 mins or so, so nice camp for late teens - is this an exploit if u camp him?

Doing the Ulthork tusk quest and getting Blue diamonds - is this an exploit?

Oh yeah, and the times when i zone around luclin, walk away from my PC while it says loading pls wait. I come back to find myself at bind point because there is some bug that makes me fall to my death. And i can never get to speak to a GM to get rez and exp back - unless of course im prepared to wait several hours and risk loss of corpse... so is this loss of exp an exploit???

I dont understand - i wonder sometimes if exploits should be called playing style...my point is that how do we as players know what is an exploit and what is not?

I keep coming back to the same point again and again - how do we know whether something we do was designed to do that, or we are using an 'exploit'???

Im prepared for flames!

Am i ranting on a bit???

There's a bug involving lagging yourself and dropping items on the ground and then picking them up, this allows for example caster to wear plate and fungis.

Btw Ginger: An exploit is to gain or do something that you know you shouldn't be able to do. This is an exploit, because you can't just drop the item on auto equip and have it equip, you have to first drop it on the ground, lag and then pick it up.

What will be patched is a new ui bug that can used to dupe items... e.g. i saw a guy yesterday who offered 16(!) boots of flowing slime for sell...

And thats my point. How do you know that what you are doing is something that you know you shouldnt??? yes - the one you refer to is pretty clear that it is indeed an exploit - i agree. but others? tradeskill item that makes a profit - how do you know if this is meant to be something you are meant to or not meant to do...

Depends, if it's a small profit then no, I'd not consider it an exploit, but if you make like 100pp per combine then yes, I would consider it an exploit (if you can buy all needed items).

There have been numerous bannings against people using macroquest, because they are creating items at such high speeds. Verant watches merchants that are used for tradeskilling a lot, be careful.

But...

I thought Verant had said that using macro's is ok if you are at the computer (because of some person's with disabilities lawsuit). Is this not correct?
