Making the cut

Ive been comming to this site for awhile now, always loved the work done here. What I was woundering, Is what programming book I could pick up to learn to write my own macros. Ive always understood the logic of it (copy paste from other macros to make new ones) but sometimes they dont have everything I need so I wanted to understand why it works, that way and if it didnt what I could do to fix it (debug =p)

so over all, what recommended programming language book should I look into, or even a site to learn off of.

p.s Is this more VBasic lang?

Any programming language would give you the basic knowledge...which is all you need to write macros. The scripting language is fairly easy, i would recommend some fairly easy language such as Delphi, or visual basic (censor: i'm an idiot; please ignore me). If you can just learn the logic of if then, for, do while loops, the usage of variables, functions, etc.

Perl is one of my favorite scripting languages, though regular expressions may be a bit overwhelming for someone new to programming.

The one I broke my teath on was Winbatch <windowware.com>

Easy to learn not too expensive and a rather unique and valuable tool.
