Crashing Upon Exit

Post by Catguy » Mon Oct 13, 2003 10:12 am

Can't seem to find this...

Running EQ.
Fire up MQ.
Doesn't respond to any commands.
Exit MQ.
EQ crashes.

Did I miss something? I built fine, only seems to happen when EQ was running first. Any ideas?

Erm, yes.

Always run MQ first. I think that's written somewhere in the setup instructions.

The crashing on exit is because when MQ loads, it injects the DLL in to all instances of eqgame. If you don't /unload (either because you forgot or because MQ isn't seeing your input) and simply exit MQ from the system tray, it yanks the DLL from all the eqgame processes causing them to crash.

It might be a nice feature to look in to adding where when the MQ.exe goes to unload the DLL, it fires an unload command so EQLib.dll unhooks itself first.

if you do it this way you need to either zone or do /e saved to have MQ become active.

I thought we fixed this already. I can tab out of EQ, exit MQ, make changes, recompile, restart MQ, and it will be active next time I zone or get a character save message.

Ah, yeah. I do that as a matter of habit anyway :)

His problem is that the command detours don't seem to be sticking, so he can't /unload.

Possibly... but from his post it also looks like he is exiting MQ before it becomes active. He should wait till it activates (zone first, for example), the try /unload.
