Purpose of mqext?

Post by Mckorr » Tue Mar 11, 2003 6:38 am

Quick question... what the heck is the mqext source for? I certainly didn't use it to compile MQ yesterday...

Thanks kaz. I'm trying to work on a slimmed down source code, removing all the extra stuff including PERL. Already cut out all the debug compiles (since I suck at debugging anyway), and wanted to know if I could remove that little tree as well.

Salutations,
Whatever you do, don't remove the DebugSpew stuff, I use that constently, even if I'm not debugging...

No no, not the debug stuff in the EQLib.cpp, the debug versions the compiler spits out.

If you take a look at your project configurations, it lists 4 files. Release and Debug versions of Macroquest.exe and EQLib.dll. Since I never produce the debut versions of those files I can safely remove anything designed to output those files.

As for the debug functions WITHIN MQ/EQLib, not going to touch those.

Now, the Telnet functions? Different story, will probably rip that out as well... as soon as I figure out why my removal of the PERL code wouldn't compile but Valerian's did. Sigh, line by line comparison of our two versions......

Get the eqlib.vcproj file from cvs. It compiles the source without perl.

No need to change any source files.

No need. Made some extensive changes to things yesterday.
** Released SRC-20030308-MCK **

2003-03-15
Restructured code to accomodate a cleaner source code tree (Mckorr)
Removed all PERL functions (Valerian)
Removed all Telnet functions (Mckorr)
Added two cleanup.bat files to remove intermediate files after compiling (Mckorr)
Project and Workspace files are for Visual C++ 6.0 instead of .NET (various)
Ack, forgot to add that I set the compiler to optimize for speed as well... machs nicht.

You can download my source tree here: SRC-20030308-MCK.zip

MAJOR MALFUNCTION!

Whatever I did to remove the Telnet functions had the nice side effect of filtering out EVERY chat message!

So, I wouldn't recommend using the "non Telnet" version right now!

Sorry about that, will go back through and figure out what I did wrong.

Was removing Telnet for my own purposes, not as a suggestion for a change to the source code.

I've since been told what the purpose behind it is, and it sounds like it definately should be in there, so I've ceased trying to remove it. Will update my zip file accordingly.
