Okay guys, looked at MQ2 before but first time I'm looking to give it a try (don't worry I'm not stupid enough to set my cleric AFK running a Temp Bot in PoK or any crap liek that, mostly just want the Map feature) I've been at this for about 15 hours straight so I'm going to put my neck on the chopping block and hopefully nobody comes out swinging.
Followed the Wikki on using teh Free MS Toolkit. Got everything installed as instructed, moved the Nmake.exe file from VS Beta 2 to the MSVC Toolbox. So far so good. Then I got hung up in the SDK files because they weren't extracting as I expected them too. No problem, half an hour searching the web and I found the answer to that little snag. Okay so the cab files have been extracted, I have MSVC Toolkit installed with the additional NMake file, and I've installed the SDK Core upgrade using the setup.exe file provided with them...(not that I know if it installed to the right program or anything but it's there).
That's about where I hit a stone wall. Working with the vcvars32.bat file, tried the write-up on the Wikki and followed it as best I could using common knowlege to figure out which of the directories I needed.... so as it stand now: my vcvars32.bat file in my VS8 directory contains the lines
Set PATH=C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual C++ Toolkit 2003\bin;%PATH%;c:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\vc\bin;C:\compile\SDK\Bin;C:\compile\sdkxpsp2\Bin
Set INCLUDE=C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual C++ Toolkit 2003\include;%INCLUDE%;C:\pSDK\include
Set LIB=C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual C++ Toolkit 2003\lib;%LIB%;c:\psdk\lib
MSVC Tool is in the obvious directory. The result of my extraded PSDK-Full1-13 files are in my C:\psdk folder and I've the Beta burried in it's God Awful defult file path. My .dsw file is still trying to open with VB8 but I don't think that matters as I'm going to end up doing this command based anyway... so 2 questions
1 What did I do wrong to my vcvars32 file that instead of being a function used by VC it's just throwing all the SET Path, Include, Lib info back at me when I try to open my VC command prompt?
2 If I do it RIGHT what kind of conformation messages should I see when running the bat file and set Compile=7?
I'd sit here and slam it out for another 15 hours but I have classes in an hour I haven't sleep since yesterday as it is and my brain is fried on the issue. If worst comes to worst I'll see if on of the professors in the IT dept have something that I can use or any advice for me but would also appriciate any info you can give me on this one.
(btw full time studen, my job barely pays for living expenses and EQ so I don't have the extra cash to drop on either of the proggies the primary instructions are based on. nor am I interested in using MQ2 only until the free trial expires.)
Oh yeah can also get a full install of VB 2K5 Express but it won't touch MQ2 in any way shape or form (no app for working with .dsp files), if there's a simpler fix for it that you know of instead of trying to figure out my command based woes that'll work too. Well gotta roll or I'm going to be late for classes. TTFN
