Maybe I am missing something but MQ only uses 256k on my system. I think perhaps your looking at the wrong info of what MQ uses. What are you doing to check the memory usage of MQ?

If you tab over to processess you can see the actual amount used by each program. It is possible that MQ needs several other services in order to fuction. EQ it self is a memory hog so I imagine you must be referring to only having MQ going? I am no developer of MQ so I havent the exact answers for you but just trying to help.
Also you might try using memturbo you can buy a copy or find it on any downloading network (ie morphious). This program flushes unused DLL's to the virtual ram and cleans up any memory leaks. I have found that eqw leaks memory like a cheese boat so I imagine MQ leaks memory too.

like i said its right after i started my PC. no EQ was runing no other program is runging. i only started MQ and quited it back out. there cant be any DLLs whitch are eating up ram. so it must be MQ.

that most can tell you that is not normal.
Looking at my MQ memory usage, when I run MacroQuest.exe, it uses 2,524K of active memory and 21,104k of virtual memory. That is running MQ w/o starting EQ at all.
Now, as to why you are seeing that memory usage, I know that I can't give you a reason for it.
