Questions on Nmake and others ..

Post by Choakster » Sat Aug 30, 2003 9:08 am

OK heres my problem I got MQ all compiled and installed on puter through VB6.0 Im fine there .. But on the nmake part of this whole ordeal It gives me a bad command or file name error .. Now ive read other posts and tried alot fo different things .. Ive vcvars32.. THat did nothing for me .. OK so I tried something on a hunch and dont laugh at me but it was jsut on an act of desperacy but i copied the vc98 file folder from my VB6.0 folder and pasted it in the c:/macroquest/eqlib folder and tried running nmake lol and guess what it almost worked haha .. OK so i get the folowing error NMAKE : fatal error : Dont know how to make \release\eqlib_commands.obj stop ... OK so i searched the posts and stuff and got no where on that .. Now FYI i cannot run nmake from any other directory unless its one of the following c:/visualbasicstudio/vc98/bin dir . wich gets me even worse errors or i can run it from c:/macroquest/eqlib/vc98/bin and I recieve the above error .... So it appears that my puter doesnt know where the hell to run Nmake from in wich case i think im screwed cause i dont know how to change that and ive tried re installing 6.0 and evceryhting nothing has worked .. OK w/ that all said so i try running MQ w/ out the nmake porotion being done .. well it starts ok w/ the icon in tray and everything i start eq get past login screen click play and it gives me the error and ive checked post on what that may be and appears I just need to find offsets for after the newest patch but it appeared to be ok otherwise now , am I to assume that i dont need to run the nmake stuff or what .. Any help on any of the above questions would be much appreciated also ty eqmule00 I followed yer step by step instructions and that was how i got up and started so they did work good TY .. but like i say I believe there is a problem w/ my puter knowing where to run nmake form etc and as i say I tried running vcvars32 and that didnt help at all so Im lost ... PLease somone help muuuuu lol ....

Considering the lack of punctuation, I think that might just qualify for the longest run on sentence. Somebody call Guiness.

from what I gathered from the first part of your post, you have VC++, you don't need nmake with that. just get the CVS and open up the workspace and then compile the DLL and the exe, it should work perfectly

Hey Choakster, we werent laughing that u couldnt figure it out lol. This program is damn hard to understand, i've been around for i think over a year and i still dont have the grasp on barely everything.

I was just laughing at what responses you got (bleeding eyes) etc lol cuz it was a big jumbled message ;)

like mule said (i think it was him) just hang in there! its worth it..its a pain in the ass at first but it gets better, TRUST ME!

Chill :) No one laughing at your computer skill just your communication ones! Anyway your question was answered before if you got visual studio just opne the .sln file and compile. Nmake is a command line thingie you won't need with a visual enviroment. on your second question... you get an error after you click play? what error? and that means you got it compiled so your first problem is solved right? Few details and we can help :)

Awesome I got it goin ...

Post by Choakster » Sun Aug 31, 2003 11:57 pm

OK I got MQ running . Im sorry for flamin out like that i aughed myself I was in a shitty m00d last night after playin eq haha go figure. Any way I got MQ all set but there seems to be some problems w/ a few things and i want to make sure its not me and if it is my version how to fix ..
First when I use the /who command it doesnt give the correct locations and is only showing one loc for the char when i though it should be two of them a N/S loc and a E/W location however it does show me their level surname guild and pets . If its my version of MQ how can i fix that .
Second the /face command strafes me a lil ways away and at times causes me to stop movement altogheter however when i try to run im running in place . And if i sit it spins me in circles and i have to restart EQ . Now is that my version of MQ also ?
I am also looking to figure out how to find out what is on a player and how to check spawns and such and ive read the manual and cant quite make sense as i said im not a computer wizz .. But i did get MQ working and would like to thank those for the help and to EQmule00 for nursin me through/
And last but not least where the hell are the nightly offsets for MQ I cant find them since the new site went up lol ..

Get the latest CVS, the /face problem was fixed, and as for the /who problem you described, it used to show distance to target (and what direction), not the exact location of them. Haven't checked but before last patch it was showing me a wrong number, like almost everything was within 6 of me.

Yeah, they were just making fun of your sentence structure. When posting, try to make your post as easy to read as possible. Just pretend your in school again~

Hehe second post that I see tody asking about that, it was explained in details on a post somewhere last week :) Short explanation MQ reads is a $ but shows it on the client as a @. Hope that helps! Try using search or browse around old post to get more info~
