Feature Requests: Additions to the $spell() *Fixed*

Post by kagonis » Thu Jun 19, 2003 5:25 am

Okay, first I'm not even sure if this is possible, as I don't know what MQ can actually access and what it cannot, but here goes:

First the entry in the manual, for reference ;)
$spell("spell name",xxx)
Returns information on a spell
xxx can be: id, level, mana, range, casttime, recoverytime, recasttime, duration
casttime, recoverytime, recasttime, and duration are in seconds
duration can also return INSTANT, PERMANENT or UNKNOWN
Mainly I'm looking at casttime, this seems to just return the base casting time. I was wondering if it was possible to add (or change it) so f.ex. basecasttime returns the base casting time of a spell, and casttime returns the actual casting time.
I know we are able to see what the casting time are both base and actual in game by simple viewing info for that particular spell, so I would guess it would be possible to access that information somehow in MQ?

I think i read a thread where someone allready asked to the duration, is this possible to calculate the correct duration of a spell? Both base and actual?
Actual can be higer due to AA and focus effects, but nowhere does it actually indicate the actual duration in game, so is it even possible to get that information with MQ?

Thanks in advance :)

Go to http://lucy.fnord.net/index.html and search for any random spell. Once you've got a spell, then click on "Raw Data" ...and see if the information you want is there somewhere.

If you find it, then give me the name of the field (on that "raw data" page) that you want..and I'll make it happen. If it's not on that page, then it's not possible.

Hmm, I can find some focus fields and the castingtime field.
Not sure of the focus fields would get filled out with any possible modifiers for this spell?
Like:
focus1: 10 (in percentage)
focusitems: 25 (in percentage)
castingtime: 3.75 (in game it actually says 3.8 base)

Or how does the focus fields work?

Anything that you see on that Lucy database in the raw data, I can make into a $spell("spell name", xxx) for you.

Just tell me the field you want used, the syntax of the parser command (ie, $spell("spell name", whatever), and an example that I can test.

So...an example for me might be:

* $spell("spell name",castingtime)
** castingtime (from lucy's)
*** example spell and data

..that's it. The focus things you might be able to decode by looking at several spells and comparing the data to see if you can figure it out.

The information Kagonis is looking for is not present in the raw spell data.

What I believe he is asking is if there is a way to return the modified casting time of a spell, once the focus effects that are present on the character have been applied.

For example, if you are wearing a bracer that has a focus effect of Summoning Haste III, then the casting time for the spell Greater Voceration: Air has a casting time of 7 seconds instead of 10 seconds (30% reduction in cast time)

That information is most likely calculated server side when you cast the spell, although it is possible it could be calculated client side.

However, the "cast time" field in the spell memory structure is not modified as far as I can tell.

Basically, MacroQuest would have to walk through all the items equiped and all the buffs in effect, and build up a listing of all the focus effects and exactly what they did, and then apply the appropriate modifiers when you issued your command.

This would be possible, but extremely non-trivial.

Well..there are tons of modifiers in the spelllist..and lucy also has a database of items (including focus items).

You might be able to find some relationships between values in the item database and how that raw data affects casting time of spells.

However, we're completely SOL when it comes to adjusting spell data based on AA abilities.

When you Alt-Click a memorized gem or a spell icon in the book it will show something like:

Code: Select all

Spell: Translocate Cobalt Scar
Skill: Alteration
Mana Cost 35
Normal Cast Time: 4.5 Your Cast Time: 3.8

Spell Effect: Covers you in resistant skin that proects you from poison and disease
The Your Cast Time is what he's talking about. It has to be stored or calculated somewhere client-side (tho not in raw spell data) since opening info on various spells does not generate any network traffic when it's done. This value changes as items you wear, AAs you have and buffs you have change.

It has to be stored or calculated somewhere client-side
This is doubtful. Most likely your client determines that number through running algorithms based on other data stored in your memory from equipment that you wear and skills that you have. If you look at Charinfo and spellist you'll notice a ton of unknown variables. Chances are that it's all based on some number manipulation of data we're not aware of how works yet.

bump for update. I found the calculation and have made succesful calls to it.
And you can pick it up here: http://macroquest2.com/phpBB2/viewtopic ... 8392#18392

syntax example:

Code: Select all

$spell("Name of Spell",mycasttime)
play nice, and kagonis you started this thread, please change topic to request solved or something.

And forget AA modifier, because that requires its own function, I can write it if there is enough sucking up for it.

Another request for $spell

Post by MacroFiend » Sun Aug 03, 2003 2:35 pm

It would be nice if $spell(name, skill) would return the spell skill used. i.e. Alteration. It should be relatively easy but it isn't marked in the existing spells struct in MQ.h

It would make building a caster practice macro even more dummy proof since you wouldn't have to feed the macro the skill of the spell.

It could also be turned around to help make the macro even easier to build by telling it the skill you want to practice and letting the macro go through the spellbook and look at x skill for the lowest mana cost/cast time.

EQMule, well all I can say that I think it's awesome work you've done allready. I didn't think of the AA skills that makes casting times faster (Quick Damage, Quick Buff) allthough they would be cool to have, they wouldn't be all important. So only if you are bored or something, and really wanna do this, should you do it :)

(Was that good enough sucking up? ;p )
