since you are one of the few that responded i will talk to u and tell u step by step what i did
1) downloaded the cvs from the link on this site says irclatest..or something close
2)made a folder in my d drive called latest and extracted the zip file to that
3)since eqlib folder is seperate than macroquest folder when extracted i put the eqlib folder insidethe macroquest folder
4)at command i typed D:cd\latest\macroquest\eqlib
5)once in that directory i typed NMAKE it compiled some stuff some eror messages though
6)typed cd ... to get back to the original dir that had a make file in it
7) typed nmake it compiled no errors
*) now i have an macroquest.exe in ny latest folder, when i click on it it appears in the sysytem tary but ingame i get NO macroquest is active message, and yes i have the latest offsets...HELPPPPPPPPP

Check Macroquest.ini, see if you have macros filtered out. If so you will not see the "Macroquest is Active" message.
In general, unless told otherwise, do NOT overwrite your Macroquest.ini file with a new one. You lose all your custom settings that way.
As far back as I can remember there has only been one necessary change to macroquest.ini, and that was during the extremely brief period when we were using a line in there to tell MQ which server you were using. I think that lasted maybe a week before server checking got integrated into the sourcecode.
MQ2: Think of it as Evolution in action.

Hmm.. For me it was much simpler.
1) Pulled down from CVS (hardest part due to sourceforge)
2) cd \some\dir\macroquest\eqlib
3) nmake
4) cd ..
5) nmake
6) start MQ
7) start EQ
ba dah bing.
This was with VS 6.0.

btw, if you got errors while making eqlib.dll that might be why it doesn't activate. That is the DLL that gets loaded when you get in to EQ, afaik.
