New UI Interface

Post by EQFanatic » Mon Jul 22, 2002 3:13 am

Has anyone tested MQ with the New UI on Test? Just curious to see if MQ will still work like it does now, as the time for the New UI draws near..

Thanks,

EQFanatic

I asked Plaz about this and he said currently it's "Partially working", which hopefully means he shouldn't have to much trouble to get it to work =)

Just be patient everyone...it'd be a waste for Plasmic to create a new MQ just to have Verant go and patch the client again due to the problems people are having currently and bugs that still need to be worked out.

WTF Anyway?

What could they have changed to cause it to completely stop responding to Macroquest?

They move things around, fiddle with data structures etc sometimes to fix bugs but mainly to befuddle programs like ShowEQ, EQ Windows, and MacroQuest. Poor Plazmic has to look at the new exe's and figure out what has changed and then recode MQ.

Good Luck mate. And why they didnt have a /face command in in there in the first place I'll never know.

Sniff...yes had same problem this morning (after attemptin to download the patch over an 16 hr period!!!)

If Plaz has it cracked, I agree - prolly worth waiting a little bit in case Verant have to release an emergency patch & that causes MQ to stop working...

Maybe worth one of the Admins placing a locked thread at top of the most appropriate forum warning that MQ is not currently working, that might save people posting the usual msgs or attempting to use...

BTW...whats the new UI like - much better???

I don't mind future patches as long as they don't contain another zone.

I don't know what genius decided to release an OPTIONAL zone with a REQUIRED patch. Congestion was impossible because every dildo on Norrath was downloading that silly zone ;)

they never ever learn! i think they should also take a phased approach to upgrading servers - OR...release the clientside file upgrades to separate download site...

never mind - update is taking far less time at the moment, so i guess all should be able to download by end of today no probs!

It was just that, optional, you didn't have to download it unless you had the Optional Zones checked in the Advanced options of the Patcher.
Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one, but most of them stink.

I think Amadeus' point was that an optional patch should never be implemented at same time as a required patch - do them at separate times. that way theres much more thruput to the patch servers & if people really want to download these optional zones, then it wont affect the people who dont

I agree with him
