GMs banning multiple accounts?

Post by Stech » Tue Jul 16, 2002 12:59 pm

Say I wanted to run a different account with a macro, an' just leave it on for a long time. Do they check IP addresses and ban all accounts on it if you are caught?

Agreed why risk it? Ive decided i aint worth the risk anymore - use MQ to stop yourself getting Repetitive Strain Injury (& possible law suits against Verant because of the way they made the game...)...

Not sure they could ban all accounts - people share IP Addresses all the time - Internet Cafes, Gaming Centres, Work, College - all of these places use NAT to allow multiple devices to share 1 IP Address. Just because someone using same IP address as you doesnt necessarily mean that all users under that IP address are cheating...unless of course the account information for each account is the same...

ban all accounts

Yes, Verant can and will ban all accounts a person has based on Credit Card information, but unlikely on IP information. Though it's at there discretion, if a child/husband/friend1 is doing bannable actions they MAY decide to ban the sibling/Wife/friend2's account if they have the same CC information. I heard stories that people tried to say they knew nothing about the cheating and that Verants policy was unfair, but I doubt Verant bought it. If you love your toon, tread with care!

No, Verant will not ban multiple accounts that are registered using the same CC information.

I speak from experience of several friends who have had single accounts banned while their main account remain unscathed.

face the truth

i dont want to sound all negative here, but i can definitely tell you that I had all my 3 accounts banned permanently just for paying for a friends EQ account with my credit card.

No, i didnt use any 3rd party programs at all - my friend did, got banned and since i used the same credit card, all my accounts got banned as well.

So please stop talking about why verant cannot ban you because they have no proove. They dont need prove !

If you use MQ, use it smart and think twice about where and how you use it. And i would suggest to never run it when afk. Unless you use it on an account that would not hurt you much if it gets banned.

Having multiple CC's and a PO Box # is your friend.

Would it just be easier to just purchase the prepaid account cards that are sold next to everquest and use these for the macro "experiments"? Rather than go through the hasle of getting multilple credit cards.

I would say yes to using the Game Cards.
Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one, but most of them stink.
