I am not looking for, nor interested in using a Warp plugin, but I am interested in understanding why it might be in Sony's best interest to allow it. It seems to me that they could easily check to see if a character has spanned a distance faster than the highest speed would allow and put the character back at the start. I believe it really would not require much code and they could still record the "warp" as I have read they do. I understand there must be some leeway due to it being a network game over the internet and you have latency differences across varying distances and even server lag but it still seems to be a problem they could have addressed in 11 years. Anyone have an idea of why it possibly could not be prevented? Or is it simply a money issue and the cost to Sony is higher than the amount of people they will lose if stopped?
I dont know the answer to your question as I know shit about this stuff, but I do know that when I see ppl warp it still pisses me off to no end. True, I can only tell that people are warping due to the fact that I use cheats... go figure. Anywho, I think that if they could have fixed this then they would have years ago when SOE still gave a shit. SOE no longer has the staff or the give-a-damn about this stuff to fix it.
