NERFED! - Filleted Bear

Post by GD » Thu Jul 18, 2002 10:09 am

Yup, knew it was gonna happen, and they did it.

Now only makes 1 Fillet per Bear Meat instead of 4, so you only make 3.8gp profit per stack.

The purpose of MacroQuest is NOT to make a profit for you.

Again, I suggest to the developers that the application be redesigned so that vendors can NOT be interacted with. I really believe it would get Verant off the back of MQ, and get rid of the users of MQ that are only interested in making money.

Even if they were to remove the built in buying code, people could still make a macro to do the buying using the /mouseto feature.
Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one, but most of them stink.

Trust me, ANYTHING is possible to code if you know what you're doing (which the developers here are quite capable).

If P wanted to make it so that you couldn't buy from vendors with MQ, then you wouldn't be able to buy from vendors with MQ.

Amadeus is right you can do anything with MQ but plaz won't take out the vendor abilities b/c he likes the pp too :)

also even if taken out it can still but done, the person making the script(macro) would just need to be creative. (some mouse gotos with x,y pos)

but all in all, you live, you get nerfed, you move on.

Not to mention that since MQ is opensource, anyone with a copy of the old source could just put it back in and recompile.

And btw, the real "problem"(if you consider it such) is the recipies that sell back to vendors for more than cost to produce. Verant could easily just go nerf cheese, fillets, and whatever else have been reported to produce a profit.

Hehe ... you're right, MQ is open source. :) Certainly, if you're good enough to modify the source and compile it to do things that you want it to do, then I have no problem with what you do with it :)

My opinions regarding the exploitation of vendors and quests simply come from a desire to get Verant's attention AWAY from MQ. It's like ShowEQ -- Verant was concerned until the developers essentially "promised" not to release the application for Windows. Verant essentially leaves ShowEQ alone now.

Using programs like MQ and ShowEQ vs getting nerfed/banned by Verant is kindof like driving. If you drive 70 in a 65mph zone you probably won't get pulled/ticketed...but,if you drive 90mph ..you'll eventually catch the authority's eye and get busted ;)

Hehehe ....perhaps if the actual macros 'exploiting' quests/vendors were nerfed from our bulletin board and the downloadable release executable.....

Even if all the get rich quick schemes get nerfed.
I found a 100 other ways to use MQ. Its not the end for enjoying the game for me.

Now when I come home from a long ass day at work I can actually spend the time I do have enjoying the game instead of all the BS that takes up my playing time.

Honestly MQ can be used in alot of ways that doesnt buck the system or hurt other players in the game.

I can see useing MQ on a PvP server to make plat unfair.
One guy has been busting his tail building his character the normal way.
Then a guy from a regular playing server who decides he wants to go PvP
and rakes in the cash over night to get twinked with MQ.

But on a non PvP server I just dont see the unfairness when im not competing against anybody so I cant hurt them in any way.

And I know its not VI's fault I have to work all day and have very little time to play to build my character.
But if MQ is the only way I can enjoy the game then ill use it.
And if I get caught and banned oh well theres other games out there
to be played.
And if I get caught then all I can say Is it was fun while it lasted.

Just some thoughts on the subject.

Ill go now I have a corpse I have to recover in Qeynos. 8)
