/who crashes game/comp

Post by Cokoanut » Wed Apr 30, 2003 7:10 pm

I can do spell casting macros like /twist, but anytime I do /who either my computer or EQ crashes. Also, /target doesn't work. Any ideas why this might be? Have latest offsets and I think my compile is good.

Im having the same exact problem. About 2-3 weeks ago I compiled MQ and it was working cleanly with no error or crashes and just now (after I come back to EQ after a couple weeks) it's crashing when I do /who and many other things. I have the latest offsets, I don't understand whats going on. Was there a new version of MQ to compile within the last month or so?

more than likely, the CVS seems to change daily. if you compiled in VC6 without using the makefile, you'll probably want to set your struct alignment to 1 byte (it defaults to 8 bytes) and recompile, but definately check out the new CVS. there's been a change to a memchecker routine within the last month.

Also, if you read the boards you know that memory stuctures changed with the April 23 patch. If you are running a binary compiled before then you have bogus _spawninfo memory structures and that is why /who blows up.

Pull down that lastest CVS. Rebuild. Make sure you are using the lastest *.ini files from that CVS checkout. You will be good to go.

GENERAL RULE: If you get a crash, you're almost ALWAYS not using the latest code. Always download the latest CVS and recompile before posting here, please.

Almost laughed when I read that. There have probably been at least 20 new versions of MQ in the last month.
