Can't see all npc's on map

Post by Duladin » Fri Apr 18, 2008 7:50 pm

Hello, long time user, first time poster. Compiled MQ2 today with the new version, everything working fine except mq2map. I've looked everywhere for a solution, but couldn't find one that fit this problem exactly. On the map, I can only see npc's that I can actually "see", as in, I can only see mobs I can target with just my mouse. I'm not sure of the command to fix this, but any help or insight would be appreciated.

http://www.macroquest2.com/wiki/index.p ... r#Examples

Added an example under the others, but I don't think it's quite the one I'm looking for, but the closest one I could come across.

Thanks again.

Really, this has been on the test server for weeks and there is a giant thread on the eq forums about it. Further more, it was in the patch notes.

Everquest no longer receives full spawn information for the entire zone.
Read up people.

You might have to repatch the game completely to get the fix for it.... I had to remove all my old eq files then dig through endless piles of crap to find my cds then load them up again, patch for another hour or so all the stuff that's been updated within the last few months had finished loading.... I finally fixed the problem by paying attention to the threads here and reading all my patch notes.

The users on this board are some of the most knowledgeable, but bitter, petty, bitches I've ever seen.

Not everyone is god's gift to computers and programming.

Yes I know it was in the patch messages, but not everyone reads it.

How simple would it be to respond, "Sony has changed how the client side displays/reports NPC's in the zone (and PC's for the matter). That they don't become visible, until they are within 600)"

Simple, but no, everyone seems to be under the thought, well Im uber, I dont have time to answer a question, instead, I'll make time to be an ass.

Except we have said that at least 20 times, and people just keep asking.

I'm sorry that the patch message / bajillions of forum threads do not appear on the inside of your anal cavity to make for easy reading.
Reading . . . it's not just for me.

And? Did it hurt anyone for the question to be posted, does it hurt anyone to answer for the 1,003,203 time?

No...Responding in that manner is just as anal as the person asking for the millionth time.

I'm sorry. You must be mistaking us for people who's job is to provide you with answers. That is not the case here or anywhere else in life. Every single subscriber to this forum is of equal standing, we are all peers. There is no one better then the next.

Realize, with the above sentiment, that this community is a two way street. You ask stupid questions, you get made fun of. You ask intelligent questions, you get intelligent responses.

If you are going to waste my time with a topic that has already been hashed and rehashed 50 times already, I am going to waste your time with meaningless banter.

Are we bitter that Team Shortbus Riders crawl out of the woodwork every once in a while? Not as long as you don't get offended when we want to have a little fun at your expense. When you start with the "OMGZOR I am holier then you becuz I onlys axed a question, no need to get all up in my grillz yall!" . . . then it becomes tiresome.

Interesting concept..posted in the HELP Forum

I don't believe I requested a response from anyone...So, if its a waste time, you chose to waste it.

Also, my biggest hangup was with this STUPID answer:

It is a help me help you atmosphere, regardless of what section of the boards you are on. Just because this is the "help" section, it does not make it "help the idiots!" section. If you ask a stupid question, you get a stupid response. Welcome to the Internet. We are no worse then any other site, if you can't live with that, then feel free to FOAD.

Also, to address your "I did not request a response from anyone" comment,
Light Knight wrote:And? Did it hurt anyone for the question to be posted, does it hurt anyone to answer for the 1,003,203 time?
Is that not a question? Isn't your point that all questions should be answered in a civil fashion? Did I not answer your question directly?

PS I know that I asked some questions there, but I don't really want you to answer.

I don't see any place on the boards that we've discussed the changes made to the spawn information, besides the VIP section. Fair enough for one person to ask outside of it IMO.

The third message into the thread explains the issues with this map, I posted it. Acctually quoted from another post somewhere in VIP so people who couldn't see VIP discussions would know what was going on. It would actually benefit people to use common sense when people post help.

"Everquest no longer receives full spawn information for the entire zone."

That statement right there at the end of the quote should be enough to get a normal person who uses eq thinking, "Well maybe this is why it's not working. I'll wait for someone dumber than me to make the first post about it. That way I dont look like I dont know what I'm doing."

Instead I think I saw at least three threads started while I was posting that message asking the same question. Of course I wanted to see how gullible people were so I added an additional post below the one with the answer to see how many people would acctually miss what I had put up. So White Knight, I am so truly sorry if you went and reloaded your PCs because you were not paying attention.
