encryption?

Post by Kint » Sun Apr 20, 2003 4:19 pm

Would it be possible to encrypt /tells to other people with macroquest the way it's set up? My friends and I get a bit paranoid about talking to each other about using MQ and other such stuff over EQ, so we use ICQ or some such. It gets to be a pain. So I was wondering if it's possible to add an encryptor and decryptor to MQ.

thanks

I have a couple of thoughts for you on this point:

1.) Encypted text may look pretty suspicious if anyone is actively monitoring tells.

2.) If there is monitoring going on, and they are watching for MQ users (both of which I tend to doubt, there aren't enough people to keep up with petitions, reports, etc. as is), then a simply using substitute words would work. For instance, replace macroquest with pontiac and macro with grand prix so "I cant get my macroquest twisting macro to work right" becomes "I can get my pontiac twisting grand prix to work right" (and no one who owns a grand prix will view this as a suspicious statement, except maybe by the lack of profanity). More importantly, any sniffers looking for key words wont pick any up.

Or do what I did one time, use words that rhyme with what you're trying to say, almost anyone picks it up pretty fast.

I can't get my macro quest twisting mac ro to work right.
I can't get my tackle fest twisting sack o' * to work right.

that macro quest is broke again, any thing i try to do makes my comp freeze.
that wacko pest is broke again, any thing i try to do makes my computer freeze.

this dumb macro keeps messing up.
this dumb blacko keeps messing up.
(no offense intended to anyone of any race)

etc etc etc... Get creative.

I think we need code

I think we need a topsecret code.

/tell malachi West? Shizzy fuxx0rs!

/tell Icon Diminish all presence
/tell malachi Diminish all presence

That would mean:
There are GM's on!
Shizzy Fuxx0rs!
unload MQ
unload MQ
Quickly scroll 10 lines so they can't see!
Quickly scroll 10 lines so they can't see!
::::repeat::::

Oh, wait, I don't play EQ anymore. /shrug. Would be PRETTY cool to integrate PGP into MQ, hehe, even if just using 8 bit keys for speed purposes. Sorta useless, but cool.

Dunno why I posted here, I guess cuz I haven't posted in a while.

Oh sure Malachi, just what we need, more bloated MQ code. Next you'll be wanting to add PERL... oh wait, someone did that :D
