Vanguard: Will there be Bots?

Post by A_Munchkin » Mon May 08, 2006 1:20 pm

Hey all,
Just like to say you guys are great at what you do, I used and enjoyed MQ2 for EQ1 for a nearly two years, and I thank you for those times. If I wasn't mooching off my parents during my college career I would have easily donated to the site. I regret the fact that have only gratitude to offer.

The reason for, after all this time, finally creating this account and asking a question is simply due to the fact that people believe botting and/or large scale farming is not going to be possible with Vanguard's supposed complex combat system. Personally, I don’t doubt your ability to make a fighting bot macro, but I keep reading posts about why botting won’t be in vanguard as it used to be in past MMORPGs. In short, will there be a macroquest type program for Vanguard?

Thanks for any and all replies. I will now do as customary to newbs on these boards and...

Amadeus is already working on a Vanguard extension for Inner Space, and a couple other people are planning on it as well. Yes, there most definitely will be things for Vanguard.

Yes.

I already have the command interpreter hooked, as well as all incoming chat text. And, I've almost got the entire item class (item datatype).

The extension for Vanguard should be fairly complete by the end of summer.

Wil it be worth getting? I haven't heard anything positive from this and the IS community about it.

What pro's and con's?

Runs like a slideshow on my machine, which is

AMD 64 3500+
2gb RAM
Geforce 6600 GT AGP 128MB

I'm still using an AGP motherboard, so it's obvious that you need a PCI-E video card of a higher class than the 6600 -- because it's not the RAM or the CPU.

Considering the graphics engine isn't even finished yet, let alone optimized, I'd be more surprised if there weren't funky FPS spikes/dips.
Also, keep in mind that all of the developers are using ATI products, and have tweaked the engine for ATI's GPUs much more then nVidia's at this stage.

Heh, I'm running an X2 3800+, 2gb RAM, Geforce 7800 GT 256MB, and I get 12fps with minimum settings. It's what Lord_Vyper says: it has not been optimized for NVIDIA cards. From what I'm told by a person who knows a person, they have ATI people at their office constantly to help with optimization, but have been getting the cold shoulder so to speak from NVIDIA. I have a machine with an ATI X700 or something in it, but I havent tried it yet to compare.

Well that is going to suck ass. I just upgraded my and the sigother's systems with new mobo's and CPU's but stuck with the AGP, because I have perfectly good cards for what we do, both of them being gForce cards. I guess if I'm interested in playing V:SoH I'll be needing to get a new video card, or two based on ATI tech.

I really don't need to be doing that, that's more money I had no plans on dishing out. Crap.

Well, they will have it optimized before release. If you want to play it CURRENTLY (in mid-beta), you'd want ATI yes.

I have always had problems with Nvidia cards playing MMORPGS. Ever since i went to ATI I've never had problems. My current Radeon x800 runs anything/everything I've thrown at it.

Just for some words from the other side.. I never had problems with my Radeon 9500, and I still dont with my dual 6800s in EQ.. Dont have access to a V:SoH beta account so I cant say much about that. Never had a problem screwing around in WoW either - but I havnt touched that since like a month after release.

Awesome, I'm all for it! MacroQuest is the only reason I've been playing EQ1 for the past year or two, or else I would have quit by now. The progress on the Vanguard extension is impressive, keep up the good work friend! I can't wait until Vanguard comes out, EQ1 is too old and not too many of my ol' friends play it, and WoW is just a horrible game. Tommorow my website should be propogonated and I'm gonna start making my guild [website].

PS: You guys should make a Vanguard subforum now.

I think I mentioned a forum that I was going to be using for my innerspace Vanguard extension. (www.isxGames.com/forums)

These forums are for MacroQuest/EQ ..... these 'other games' boards have been here for years and never get used no matter who creates them. People that come here are usually here for EQ1/MQ.
