You guys are silly. People are trusting their firewalls and routers to protect them from process scans and whatever coming from EQ.
They're not going to do it on a new port, or from a different, unapproved server (depending on how you have your firewall set up, permissions are granted to certain IP's). It's going to come from the port that it always comes from, and if you /petition or whatever in game, then it's going to come through just like any other traffic.
Unless you've got nutzo security on your 2k/NT box, you don't have file-only executable permissions set on ports accessed by EQ (meaning that the port would only be open if eqgame.exe was running), so even if they process scanned you while you *weren't* connected via the client, the firewall is just going to allow the request b/c it's on an opened port already, or at least a port that's designated to receive traffic from that specific address.
So, if you need tech support, unplug your lan cable or just tell them that you use a dial up and that you need it to talk to them on the phone. Otherwise, if you request it via the online chat or by /petition or whatever, then you'd better unload MQ first and spam up your window.
Additionally, process scans don't show you everything that's installed on the computer, it shows the active processes. So, if you just don't have MQ running, they won't know about it.
This leads to another point...if you do have it installed but are not running it, and they connect and tell you you're banned/suspended because you're using 3rd party software, then you (again) have good rights to sue the pants offa them, because they can't legally check your file contents for any folder outside the EQ ones. Additionally, and without a trojan or login access to your computer, this is pretty easy to prevent anyway.
So that's that, lol. Love your firewalls, but not because they're going to prevent you from getting process scanned. :)
