What's wrong?

Post by aChallenged1 » Tue Jul 18, 2006 8:13 am

Yesturday I culd run MQ2 no problems, today it doesn't work? Did Macroquest break? Help plz!

/sarcasm

There has been a patch today, so MQ2 is down, as is ISXEQ, until the new offsets are found and the new zip is released. Expect a day or 2 for that to happen.

The question is whether or not it is lost on those who it is aimed at. We'll know as soon as the servers are up and they start to post.

Code: Select all

Expect a day or 2 for that to happen.
A day or two? ..heh. As MQ2 is open source it should take less than two hours for even the most complex things to be updated. Unfortunately, there are a lot of lazy people around that just wait for others to do all the work.

Even so, you should at least take a look at the difference in executables before stating such a thing. There was only a few bytes difference...this update will not take a day or two.

Ah, Ama, you give us hope. Though, I wish you didn't LOL! Now they'll be expecting an updated zip today.

It takes me at least 4 hours to update offsets. If there are others doing this, then perhaps we should be breaking up the offsets into sections and divying them out?

If this is already being done somewhere then feel free to let me know so that I can help out.

the real problem

Post by jimmydean » Tue Jul 18, 2006 8:04 pm

i think the real problem with the patch is that i have no idea whose ass that is in achallenged's avatar. this is a huge issue that probably needs to be fixed before any offsets are released.

JD, Man, they would never be released then, as I haven't a clue who's tight ass that is.

Not a programmer or anything, I will admit that, but what is actually is involved in finding the new offsets? How does this process go? I know one thing, they are crucial to almost everything out there, the game itself, MQ, Magelo, ect.

reverse engineering the exe for the game so that you can find the addresses and the data at those addresses. Something I'd be interested in doing, but not at this time.

You need a program like IDA to do it.
