MQ function broke? Please read..

I'm having issues the $char(buff,xxx) commands

when I do /echo $char(buff,"Spirit of Wolf") it echos back how many buffs I have and not the buff slot # of SoW..

UPDATE:
Now when I do it it crashes me to desktop, what could be wrong, is anyone else having this issue?

last time I checked we didn't ahve spell offsets?

i had them but I guess it was wrong #'s. thx for response.
