Older MQ // EQEMU [0.5.3] Problems

Post by adakos » Sat Dec 24, 2005 5:21 pm

Dear MQ Community,
Background:
I've been playing on EQEMU servers for a while now, on and off, and found a few I like. One of them is a PVP server, and the other is Shards of Dalaya. Now, for both of these, I'd like to be able to use MQ.

Problem:
Incorrect Version.
What I've tried: I've tried CVSing old versions of macroquest, and have had sucess getting them, up to a point. I can only find listings untill a certain date.

What I need:
If someone would be kind enough to help me find the correct date for the EQEMU [0.5.3] Server, (specifically Shards of Dalaya. www dot shardsofdalaya dot com) I'd be grateful.

Additionally:
I've read http://www.macroquest2.com/wiki/index.p ... nt_Version
However, finding the right version is still problematic.

Thanks,
Adakos

It's really going to be a hit or miss type thing.

Your best bet is to disassemble the eqgame.exe and take a look at what date it shows, then find a corresponding MQ2.

Just ran into SoD for the first time myself about a week ago. Trying to get MQ going also. The version information for the sod patched exe is:

Code: Select all

23/12/2003
00:27:50
I tried using PE Builder to change the date stamp on the exe to match the current version of the eq exe but MQ still recognizes that its an incorrect version. No clue where to get the right build of MQ so if you happen upon it please post for me.

Hrm. Found this http://www.macroquest2.com/downloads/zips.php which seems to be a public repository for older versions. Unfortunatly the versions here dont go back nearly far enough to work for this version of the client. I'm not sure if MQ was around that far back or not. Guess I could read the history on the wiki =P

I found this post:
To get it to work:

1. Download a CVS client, preferably a command line one since its less complicated to use.

2. run it and do this command: Quote:
cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/macroquest login
just hit enter when it asks for password.

3. next do this: Quote:
cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/macroquest co -D 2004-02-10 macroquest2
which will download all the source as of Feb. 10, 2004

4. Follow normal compile instructions for MacroQuest2 then edit the eqgame.ini that it dumps into the Release folder and make sure ClientOverride is set to 1.

5. Run MacroQuest2 and then WRPatcher and it will work fine.

Questions? Im beholdthepenguin on WR forums as well, and Luillend on WR itself.

*cheers*
Which seems to have worked for someone else. Unfortunatly when I try to log into the CVS no password doesnt seem to work anymore. I assume maybe the CVS is no longer public but no clue. Any help much appreciated.

Regards,
~Junky

That mq was before the Great Syntax Change. Try looking in the MQ1 forums.

ok step by step using WinCvs (freedownload..google it)
open WinCvs hit Cntrl L to open command line copy paste
cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/macroquest login
Hit enter .. will get message at bottome CVS exited normally with code 0

Open command line again and copy paste in
cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/macroquest co -D 2004-02-10 macroquest2

This will download into a folder named macroquest2 (if you already have a folder named that you may want to rename it before doing this, it wasn't a problem for me because I didn't have any folders with that name.

then just follow the rest of the instructions above.
