Soul marks are now used primarily as notes, and all the information is stored server side. If you were to view a person's soulmarks you would see every time they petitioned written on them. Soulmarks cover every character on your account, i believe its regardless of server but i'm not sure.

some people dont want the complexity of a macro like genbot, just something to make a bot cast the spell you tell it to.

If you dont wanna use Genbot id say look over the code for it, it may help you figure out how to get started :D
