What I had heard was that if a guide/GM sees a mob with a # in front of the name they aren't allowed to use their magicial powers on it. I guess this would really only apply to guides. As far as finding ANY AND ALL named, I don't know how reliable this would be, I just know that I used to use good ol' SEQ, and that named mobs come with a # in front of their name.
